Spend a little, SAVE a lot: Benefits of an Energy Audit
An “Energy audit” can mean many things to many people.
The simplest form of an “energy audit” is to schedule an appointment with a Certified Home Energy Rater (HERS Rater) to look at the “big” ticket items in your home such as:
- High Efficiency Lighting
- Windows and Doors
While some of these (if not all of them) may be outdated within the home there is a method in which The HERS rater can assist the homeowner to make an informed decision regarding replacement/updates to ascertain which one(s) would give you the “most bang for your buck”.
A Certified Home Energy Rater will use his training to:
- Perform a blower door test to gain the true numbers for your home’s air infiltration rate.
- Test the ductwork to show the leakage in the system and the potential savings of sealing the leaks at the ductwork.
There are a lot of areas that a Certified Energy Rater is trained to look at, and having those skills and knowledge can lead to a quieter, more comfortable, more energy efficient home for years to come while saving money as well.
