What is a leak barrier?
A leak barrier (or ice guard) is a self-adhering, waterproof, rubberized membrane that’s installed in the most vulnerable areas on a roof before shingles are installed. After installation, the leak barrier maintains a seal against the roof deck surface and around any nail punctures to create a watertight surface.
A quality leak barrier will:
- Create a seal that helps keep water out at the most vulnerable parts of your roof (at the eaves and rakes, in valleys, around chimneys, etc).
WeatherWatch© Leak Barrier, a quality leak barrier, will:
- Help protect your home from costly wall and ceiling staining
- Help prevent leaks due to water damming in your gutters, wind-driven rain, and damaging ice dams.
Don’t put your home at risk!
The codes are clear
Protection against ice dams is required at eaves wherever the January average temperature is 25°F or lower or where there’s a possibility of ice forming in the eaves – such as in Ohio!
Reduce the risks
If you’re in Ohio, you’re required to have leak barrier protection. If you don’t have it installed, you could be putting your insurance coverage at risk!
WeatherWatch© Leak Barrier is a homeowner’s best choice… Why?
It looks better…
Fiberglass reinforcement helps resist wrinkling and buckling – it lies much flatter under shingles.
It meets building codes…
In Ohio, a leak barrier MUST be used!
